John Dee

John Dee invented Enochian Magick along with his associate Edward Kelley. This magick allows one to enter higher spiritual dimensions called Aethyrs or Heavens. There you can communicate with the good resident angels in each realm. Dee was born in London on July 13, 1527. He was living at the time that Mary Tudor ascended he throne which was in 1553. She was known as Bloody Mary for her torture of the Protestants. In 1555 Dee was arrested on charges of conjuring spirits and heresy. He served a few months in prison. Eventually the charges were dropped and he was exonerated.

Times changed dramatically in 1558. It was at this time that Elizabeth became Queen. She was a lifelong friend of Dee's and supported his work. In 1558 Dee also authored a book on astronomy called 'Propaedeumata Aphoristica'.

It was after the age of 50 that the study of the occult became an obsession for John Dee. In May of 1581 he saw an angel in one of his crystals. This was highly unusual as Dee was generally not successful at scrying.
